Personal Beliefs and Interests
Kari turns to the primal, healing forces of Nature & Ayurveda daily for peace & equanimity. The Ayurvedic philosophy that the elements of Nature, Ether Air, Fire, Water & Earth exist within our every cell, our every thought, is one that she learned as a child, directly from time spent in the wilds of her family farm. Observation of the natural world has also taught her that creating time & space in which to rest & renew are valuable healing actions.
She still spends time each morning, with the dew, the moon, stars, clouds, songbirds in spring & summer, or silent winds in winter, & cherishes the balance that daily union with Nature brings. Kari delights in helping others to find their own reunion with Nature’s healing ways.
As a daily student of Ayurveda, & Yoga, she considers her dawn practices to be a wise investment that she makes each day, toward a happy & healthy life. These timeless practices have taught her to live from her own intuition & natural, inner rhythms. One of the gifts that she values most, which springs from her simple, natural lifestyle, is the ability to calmly observe, befriend, & learn from her own mind.
Kari is endlessly inspired to create herbal remedies from wild & local gardens. From her hearth & home pharmacopeia, she cares for herself, her loved ones, her community, & Nature. Wilderness hiking & photography, swimming in natural bodies of water & writing poetry, are also a few of her treasured pleasures in life.
Approach
In her small, private Ayurveda practice, Kari works within the most ancient stream of Ayurveda, Shamana, a Sanskrit word which refers to calming & soothing care & treatment. She treats each client as a unique, fluid & evolving individual, offering long-term, gentle guidance & support. She specializes in sensory & sleep care, as foundational to emotional well-being.
In her full spectrum approach, Kari offers Ayurvedic counseling, herbal & daily regimen design, immersion learning & body therapy. Her primary focus is upon helping clients to discover & understand their inner nature, & to care for their subtle, inner body. Her simple method includes an easy way to begin, with a Free, 30 Minute Zoom Discovery Session. Whether virtual or in- person, Shamana sessions take place in a lovely, secluded garden studio.
Kari draws from over 30 years of study & client care, & her clinical training as a NAMA Board Certified Medical Ayurvedic Practitioner. She smoothly intertwines the Vedic arts of Ayurveda, Hatha Yoga, Jyotish & Vastu, specializing in Nadi, Ayurvedic Pulse Reading, & Sensory Care which leads to an inner ability to receive natural states of sound & nourishing rest, deep sleep, & meditation.
Entering each Client/Practitioner relationship slowly & intentionally, she employs the traditional tools of Darshana, wisdom of vision, Prasna, discerning inquiry, & Sparshana, intuitive healing touch, to understand the needs of her clients deeply, & to design care plans which balance one’s constitution & foster a joyful & nourishing flow of Ayurveda into one’s daily life.
